Saika class

An online class with Angela Jarecki
Saika - A flower full of color

Saika, which means a flower full of color, came about from my love of drawing faces! I wanted a way that I could work on various ethnic faces and features, that was more than a sketch, yet not quite a full blown doll. I hated the thought of so many bodiless dolls lying about, so I turned her into a bust!

Saika is approximately 6? tall, when made totally from cloth. There is also a method for attaching the bust to a candlestick that will be covered the last week of class.

In this class we will work primarily on drawing an Asian face. We will go over how to capture Asian features using skull shapes and feature placement, first flat, then making a cloth head that we will turn into a bust. I will also show other faces that I have made into busts. When you are finished you will have a lovely lady that is complete with wings and a hat. We will work on simple embellishment techniques that will complement the doll bust. This is a 5-week class, and it will be lots of fun! Work at your own pace, ASK QUESTIONS WHEN NEEDED!

Duration: 5 weeks
Cost: $55
Class is ongoing, always available.
