Saika – an ethnic doll bust

Online class from Angela Jarecki

I just love starting out the new year with something so gorgeous!  This beauty is going to be a five week class from Angela.  I just love the way she does her faces, they are so soft and dreamy.   You can read more about Saika here.

A Lovely Lily Pond

a fabulous new class from Christi Friesen

Just in time for the new year, a lovely little pond that you can gaze serenely into to help recover from the holiday madness. Christi says that you’ll get that ‘zen’ experience every time you look into your pond. Learn to use resin as water and learn all the tricks that Christi uses to make simple shapes look complicated. Plus you’ll love her sense of humor!  Class will start on January 6, 2012 and will run for a couple of months.  Sign up here!

Sandi’s Steamfae

A fabulous doll from Dawn's Steampunk Oddfae class

Just had to share this doll that Sandi Reid made in Dawn’s Steampunk Oddfae class.  Absolutely awesome! She can’t show us his ‘ride’ as she is entering it in a competition next year!  Dee’s instructions are so easy to follow – I just love this little guy!

Harvest Queen

Mixed Media Dimensional Art class with Judy Skeel

Isn’t this just great? I think this would make an awesome gift and I imagine you could probably make more than one at a time! It would be nice in your own home too but I tend to think of gift giving when we are getting close to the holidays. As long as you gift to someone who appreciates the time and effort that goes into a handmade gift! Anyhow, this is the Harvest Queen and she’ll be starting this coming Friday, Nov 18th.

Miss Cheevas

a new Oddfae class from Dawn

Miss Cheevas

Whoot – just in time for Halloween – do you see a trend here, lol?  Another outstanding class from Dawn, a complete online doll class – she’ll cover everything – sculpting, armature, wigging, costuming, and a whole lot more.  There is even some kind of surprise in this class – and Dawn wouldn’t tell me what!  Gah!  Starting Oct 28th, don’t miss Miss Cheevas!

Candy Corn Witch

a $10 online class with Sherry Goshon

Is this little doll too cute or what?  Sherry made a ton of these for gifts at her Iowa/Reno retreat and then decided to share the doll as a class.  It’s only $10 and there’s just one lesson.  Make a few of these Candy Corn Witches for those special Trick or Treaters in your life!   Adorable!

Do you make seasonal dolls?  I have a head for a witch done and fabric picked out for a body (all green) but it’s been sitting on my table for at least two years now!

Halloween fun

A new online doll class and a new pattern

I must really be behind the times because I don’t have any Halloween things up – and the stores are already doing the Christmas thing!  So to catch myself up I’ll tell you about two new Halloween themed items at Doll Street.  I just this very minute put up a new pattern from Michelle Munzone.  The Little Witches, are pin dolls/hanging dolls and it’s only $8.  Very cute.

We also have a class from Tonja Martinovic, Rosa the Good Witch.  Tonja lives in Serbia and has learned how to make beautiful dolls with the simplest of supplies.  She is sharing her techniques in this class.  You’ll make the doll plus the little cat that she’s holding.  This is a wrapped body – so you’ll learn to make an armature and wrap it before costuming.  If stuffing is difficult for you this might be the thing to learn!

Although this isn’t new, I also have an ePattern that could be considered rather Halloweenish – it’s a Severed Hand Pincushion.  I love these things and have a couple of them at home.  Super simple to make and a lot of fun!

Up on the Rooftop – online class with Kathryn Walmsley

Bringing paintings to life

Kathryn went through her class files and found two classes that haven’t been offered in years and years. One is a costuming class and the other is this one, which is listed at the Creative College now! Up on the Rooftop is a class where you will learn how to interpret a 2D picture in 3D.  I thought this was pretty cool, for the class you can either make this guy or you can find a picture or painting of your own and work along with the class.   A lot of Kathryn’s classes make you think a little outside the box.  It’s not cookie cutter unless you want it to be.  This is a sculpting class for the most part and if you’ve ever seen a picture that you’ve wanted to bring to life, well, this is the class to do it in.  The class is so old that it’s still in the old format that Molly used.  Kathryn will be updating it and putting it into PDF format.  Should be a lot of fun! Hope you can join us in class at the end of September.
